Structure Of Our Certification Program

  • The first week is getting you acquainted with our teaching methods, online training center, mentoring sessions, testing center and community.  You will begin Section 1 to learn the art and skills of the end of life doula.
  • Second week is joining in on the mentoring sessions, and securing a solid foundation within our program. You will most likely set up your study schedule and decide if you would like to participate in our email guidance series that will tell you exactly what to do each week. But you are free to explore at your own pace.  
  • If you studied our program full time you could complete our program within 2 months; however we recommend to take your time and really integrate all of your personal experiences, with the lessons and your vision for the strongest foundation. 

Personalized Training

Each new student is encouraged to ask questions directly about their own person situation and given assistance throughout the program through our mentoring sessions, Answers Hub, and our community discussion platform.

You are the most important person to us--YOUR vision. YOUR dream of service. Our curriculum was developed by Deanna, embodying her unique CareDoula® approach to the role of end-of-life doula.

Together, with the best of yours and Deanna’s experience, as well as evidence-based protocols and the National End-of-Life Doula Alliance standards, you will be richly supported to accompanying another person, their family, and the entire community system through dying.

You are guided through a thorough deep-dive into all aspects of self-care, creating a holistic private practice, and sound business applications specific to our end of life realm. All are welcome, as every single person must apply the basic tenets of a sound, powerful, and beautiful practice--whether or not you will be serving professionally.

Our program is powerful yet simple, comprehensive, and easy to follow with our course objectives, guidance system, self-assessments, and weekly assignments along the way.

The Benefits to You of Our Program
  1. Be “in the Know.” You have lifetime access to our comprehensive material and updates.
  2. Strong Foundation. Deanna creates a powerful learning experience (intimate and timely to current events) specific to our healthcare system today, grounding you in confidence. Live weekly classes are taught by Deanna Cochran, Hospice RN & Doula in Private Practice, who will deeply engage with you and answer your personal questions each class.
  3. Complete path from Diagnosis through Bereavement. You will learn everything to do for a family from the day of diagnosis of a serious or terminal illness, through living well as they die, through the bereavement time period. As the pandemic has created new needs due to the trauma associated with dying through these times, we are creating new trainings for this.
  4. 3-in-One Training. Our CareDoula® Method incorporates the skills you need to practice as a Consultant, Service Provider, or Educator. We provide our Certified CareDoula® role as a sound practice model.
  5. Doula Model of Care.  You are on the ground floor and will benefit from Deanna’s active participation presently, and in the past, in developing the professional standards advised by the National End-of-Life Doula Alliance (NEDA). Deanna is a founding member of NEDA and present Chair of the End-of-Life Doula Advisory Council within the NHPCO (National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization) for over the last 2 years. Her work in these 2 powerful organizations gives her a unique perspective of the challenges of our healthcare system which she fully shares with you.
  6. Confidence. You can relax now knowing you are in loving, supportive hands. Deanna has been in the trenches long before there was an “end-of-life doula movement” and continues to lead in this space, collaborating with amazing people all working diligently to help people die well in this modern age. You are a part of that! She will connect you anyway she can. She will assist you in setting up connections with organizations you’d like to serve, if appropriate.
