Meet Your Trainer: Kelly RomanIn Kelly's words: "In 2010 my life and the direction I was going changed forever. That change would take me on a path to serve individuals at the bedside over ten years. In addition my immediate family members including my Black Lab were all supported by me at the end-of-life. Each experience adding to my personal level of professionalism in the field. Working directly with interdisciplinary teams in long-term-care and hospice, I saw a lack of education and professionalism that would provide the best person-centered care. If there is one topic to include in monthly training and coaching professionals, it would be the practice of non-violent communication. It brings awareness to how we speak to ourselves and how we bring that level of compassion to others. My personal journey in long-term recovery stems from bearing witness to my brother’s decline and death due to alcoholism at the age of 46. In 2023 I received my NJ peer recovery specialist certification to further support individuals on their path, whatever that looks like. The pull to sit at the bedside after his transition was evident and I listened to the call."
